Sarah Howie
MRICS FAAV BA (Cantab) MARLA
Sarah worked at a national surveying firm for five years after graduating from the University of Cambridge having read Land Economy. Sarah has carried out work for private and institutional clients, charities, landlords and tenants, advising on estate management and landlord and tenant matters, land sales and providing general consultancy advice to both landowners and farmers. Sarah is a partner in the family dairy farm in Shropshire and spends her time being a director of Howie, Kent & Co as well as assisting in the management of the herd of 300 dairy cows.
Sarah is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. Sarah has also completed the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Certificate in Trusts and Estates (England & Wales).
Sarah is most at home whilst outside, whether that is on a horse, running, or working with the cows.

Duncan Howie
MRICS FAAV MRAC
Duncan has been involved in the rural industry for the last ten years, working for a national surveying firm for five of them. He advises landowners, farmers, investors and developers in relation to general rural professional matters including land management and development. He specialises in rural agency, both in the traditional purchase and sale of land as well as being involved in specialist site-finding services for renewable and non-renewable energy clients.
Duncan is involved in the management of the 300 cow autumn calving herd in Shropshire as well as being a partner in his family’s pig and arable business based in Essex.
He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. He is also past chairman of the Royal Agricultural College Student Union, of Essex Federation of Young Farmers Clubs and also the Eastern Area of Young Farmers Clubs. Duncan spoke at the Oxford Farming Conference in 2014 in favour of renewable energy at the annual Oxford Union debate.
Duncan enjoys country pursuits and training his Labrador puppy Boda.

Sarah Thurmer
Sarah joined us as a PA / Lettings Assistant during summer of 2019 to help out with secretarial & PA work. As she has learnt more about the property industry she has taken a more prominent role within the commercial lettings department and now balances her role between managing the commercial side of the business and running the office day to day.
Sarah graduated in Modern Foreign Languages and has since worked in Europe and the UK in various secretarial and project management roles. Sarah converted to law in autumn 2018 when she moved back to Shrewsbury, her hometown, to pursue this change in career. She will complete her law conversion while working at HK&C and finds the two areas compliment each other well.
Sarah loves to travel and has a passion for European languages.

Elaine Homer
Elaine started working at Howie, Kent & Co as Residential Lettings Co-ordinator and Secretary in September 2020. Before joining Howie, Kent & Co she worked as a Senior Administrator in the rural department of a national property consultancy firm for nearly five years. In this role she assisted surveyors with valuation reports, compensation claims, land and farm sales, property lets and management.
Elaine has worked in a variety of administrative roles from a recruitment company to an occupational health department. She is keen to utilise her previous experience to assist in the smooth running of the office and is also looking forward to expanding her knowledge of residential lettings and management.
When not ferrying her two daughters to their various sporting activities, Elaine tries to keep fit herself by walking and running. She also enjoys baking.

Tom Ashton
Tom joined Howie Kent & Co at the start of 2020 and is mainly involved with the specialist site-finding services for renewable and non-renewable energy clients. Alongside this he also provides planning consultancy for clients looking to develop a variety of different projects. Before joining the team, Tom was land manager for a residential developer building open market and affordable homes across Shropshire and Herefordshire.
Tom has been a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors since 2016 specialising in planning & development. Prior to this he had studied Rural Estate and Land Management at Harper Adams University and during this time he was also chairman and treasurer for his local Young Farmers Club.
Outside of surveying Tom is a partner in his wife’s family farm which is mainly beef and arable along with a small flock of pedigree Suffolk sheep. When not on the farm Tom enjoys country pursuits particularly training and working his dogs.

James Haselwood
James joined the team at Howie Kent and Co identifying strategic land opportunities both in the renewable and non renewable energy sectors. James is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, providing sound and professional property advise to both private and public sector clients throughout the UK.
James brings with him a wealth of contacts as well as experience on a range of property matters, specialising in planning and development matters, land sales and acquisitions, valuation, estate management, landlord and tenant matters.
Away from the office, James’s passions are; good company, any kind of field sports and The Northampton Saints Rugby Club (when they are winning).
